AI AI AI everybody in the world wants to know about AI AI AI.
The most annoying thing to see -> the number of people saying “how AI {now AI agents} is gonna take over the world”
Yet even the smartest people can’t seem to keep up with the / know what’s going on, odd.
Most of you know me as the ‘procrastination guy’ if your coming from X & yes I’m never gonna stop talking about the things I love
~ psychology
~ neuroscience
~ momentum
But I’ve changed:
->Too many people have no clue how technology {like AI} works
With the amount of tools out there it’s starting to get not chill.
Wrote a 20+ page doc on how AI works {never make anyone read that} now only 5 pages {with images too} if you want a copy.
Why AI Feels Overwhelming {Even though It Shouldn’t}
If you’ve been in the space or just getting in now
They’re seems to be a new model coming every day? {idk but probably}
AI newsletters got more content than Instagram now swear.

With the amount of options there are & the pace, it’s easy to freak out.
So let’s get some answers:
If you understood how AI works even with ‘it taking over the world’ you’d know it’s not that scary.
Before I keep going, you might be thinkin
Alright who is this guy? Why should I read this?
I’m Miles worked at an AI startup as a Sales Engineer had to learn all this stuff myself {gen ai, ai etc.}, now just making it easier for you.
So What the f**k is AI?
Assuming you have no idea how AI works or can barley use ChatGPT
What is AI?
->AI allows technology {your phone, laptop, tv} to make decisions
I know ‘scary’ no no it’s not.
Humans make decisions based on what
- Experiences
- Opinions
- News
- Stories etc.
Obviously generalizing here for example
If you were about the cross the street and someone told you:
Hey I don’t know if you knew this but running across the street when a car is about to fly by is smart!
Obviously I’d hope you say that’s dumb
Why? Well from the others opinions {hopefully not experiences} you’d know you’d die {probably}.
Computers {or whatever you’re reading this on}, is the same
In order for a computer to know what’s right or wrong it needs information {i.e. data}
Information -> Pattern -> Decision
So in simple terms
->Give information so the computer can see what’s right or wrong {lotta math}

How the Heck Does AI “Learn”?
Now that you get what AI is -> allows technology to make decisions.
Let’s get to the juice, how it learns.
Picture this for a second,
First time you step on a basketball court {even if you’re not a a baller}:
- You enter the court & see a ball -> cause basketball
- Pick up the ball, dribble → good start
- Lift your arms {with the ball course} aim at the hoop, shoot -> missed the shot {all good}
- Try again → closer
- Kept trying → swish
Seems pretty obvious, it’s basketball

Now imagine you did the basketball thing millions of times in seconds. That’s AI.
->AI learns through data as mentioned
Each rep = data
Each shot = pattern
Eventually the computer gets very good at spotting what’s right, wrong.
“Technical Imagine”
“Machine Learning” is literally a machine i.e. computer seeing what worked or didn’t based on answer your trying to get {Machine Learning is part of AI}
Deep dive in the next section.
Here’s an example if you wanted to teach an AI what a cat is:
- First it asks: are there ears? fur? tail?
- Then it says: okay cool that’s probably a cat.
Boom. Learned.
(Note it’s not always perfect cause if the cat has wings, might think the cat is a bat or something)
Point: AI / ML learns from lots and lots of examples

AI (Artificial Intelligence) -> the umbrella
- As we’ve said any time tech mimics human thinking / decisions.
Deep Dive:
- ML (Machine Learning): learns from examples, quizlet on crack.
- DL (Deep Learning): learns in layers, like your brain learning something new.
- Gen AI (Generative AI): creates new stuff text, images, music, code, etc.
ChatGPT {claude, gronk, gemini etc.} are all Gen AI, they don’t think just create new stuff from patterns, every time.
ChatGPT was literally trained on the entire internet {probably trained on this blog post too}

Summary & Where to Go From Here
AI = math + information+ really fast guesses.
It only feels ‘overwhelming’ cause:
- Its new sure
- There’s too much content
- Too many new tools
- Everyone’s yelling about it without actually explaining it
But even with AI getting pretty good, it’s not gonna run the world.
You will if you know the frick it works and if you use your way beautiful way of thinking.
Most people ignore AI {really anything new} or panic cause it’s scary / new.

I only say that cause I’ve noticed without learning AI I wouldn’t land a job, build cool stuff or talk to nerds {aka my friends}
The Real Advantage: You & AI
Something really cool happens when you combine:
- Your interests
- Your taste
- Your weird ideas
- Your humor
With what AI can do:
- Content creator using AI to generate 10 ideas in 2 minutes
- A biz owner writing emails with ChatGPT {needs work still but good start} so they can actually focus on their craft
- A coach running their entire backend ops off simple automations
You pretty much become unstoppable, just have to start playing.
